Wound Treatment

Treatment and Care For Chronic Wounds

Promoting Health and Healing for Chronic Wounds

A wound that won’t heal can seriously compromise your health and well-being. The Wound Center at South Miami Hospital is a comprehensive outpatient treatment center dedicated to the treatment and care of chronic wounds.

Why Wounds Don’t Heal

Generally, a chronic wound is defined as one that doesn’t heal within four to six weeks. Non-healing wounds can indicate a serious underlying condition such as diabetes, pressure sores, unusual infections or peripheral artery disease (PAD). At the Wound Center, our goal is to help heal and care for the wound and prevent it from recurring.

Highly Professional and High-tech

The Wound Center’s multidisciplinary team is composed of physicians who specialize in chronic wound care, nurses with wound care certification, hyperbaric medicine specialists, dietitians, physical therapists, social workers and home health professionals — all backed by the most sophisticated technology and advanced treatment options available today. They partner with you to develop an effective treatment plan.

Your individualized wound treatment plan may include:

  • Wound assessment

  • Vascular consultations
  • Noninvasive vascular testing
  • Skin care and grafting
  • Hyperbaric oxygen therapy
  • Compression therapy
