When they design a treatment plan, they consider the patient’s unique needs in order to achieve the best possible outcome.

With their extensive training and experience, our vascular and cardiothoracic surgeons know the importance of using advanced technology in surgery to perform a variety of complex procedures:

Baptist Health heart surgeons keep abreast of medical advances that can lengthen your life and hasten your recovery. By combining surgical skill, innovative technology and compassionate care, these surgeons deliver outstanding surgical care at South Miami Heart Center. In fact, these cardiothoracic surgeons have achieved the highest quality rating of three stars for coronary artery bypass surgery by The Society of Thoracic Surgeons (STS), which evaluates patient survival rates, number of surgical complications, hospital re-admissions and more to determine the highest quality heart surgery programs in the country.

Effective Treatment Options

Although Heart Center surgeons are experts at performing traditional open heart surgery, whenever possible they use minimally invasive techniques. Minimally invasive surgery (MIS) involves less blood loss, less scaring and helps coronary heart disease patients recover quicker than traditional heart valve replacement surgery. Our da Vinci robot allows surgeons to access the heart through small incisions no wider than a thumb, thereby avoiding open heart surgery.

South Miami Heart Center surgeons treat a variety of cardiac, vascular and thoracic conditions, including:

  • Coronary Artery Disease (CAD)
  • Carotid Artery Disease
  • Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD)
  • Structural Heart Disease
  • Heart Valve Conditions
  • Aneurysms
  • Lung Cancer and Esophageal Conditions
  • Narrowing of Renal Arteries
